Creating an SMS Campaign

Building Your Campaign
Section titled “Building Your Campaign”- Navigate to Campaigns > Create Campaign > SMS
- Enter a campaign name for internal reference
- Select your target audience segment (only SMS-subscribed contacts)
- Compose your message
- Add any links or images (MMS)
- Schedule or send immediately
Composing Messages
Section titled “Composing Messages”Keep your SMS messages concise and actionable:
- Character limit — Standard SMS messages are 160 characters. Longer messages are sent as multi-part SMS
- MMS support — Attach images to create richer messages
- Link shortening — URLs are automatically shortened and tracked
- Personalization — Use merge tags just like in email campaigns
Compliance
Section titled “Compliance”Gro handles SMS compliance automatically:
- Opt-in management — Only contacts who have explicitly opted in receive SMS
- Quiet hours — Messages are held during quiet hours (default: 9 PM - 9 AM recipient local time)
- Unsubscribe handling — STOP keyword replies are processed automatically
- TCPA compliance — Built-in safeguards to help you stay compliant
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Keep messages under 160 characters when possible
- Include a clear call-to-action
- Use SMS for time-sensitive offers and updates
- Respect frequency — avoid over-messaging
- Always identify your brand in the message
