Shopify Events

Once your store is connected, Gro records what shoppers do on your site and what happens to their orders. You can start flows on these events, split on their fields, and build segments from them.

These come from Shopify itself, so they cover every order: your online store, subscription renewals, point of sale and orders you create in Shopify admin.

Event When
Placed order An order is created
Ordered product Once for each item on a new order
Fulfilled order Every item on the order has been fulfilled
Fulfilled partial order Some items on the order have been fulfilled
Marked out for delivery The carrier marks a shipment out for delivery
Delivered shipment The carrier marks a shipment delivered
Cancelled order An order is cancelled
Refunded order An order is refunded, in full or in part

Delivery events need a carrier that sends tracking updates to Shopify.

These come from the Gro pixel on your store.

Event When
Viewed product A shopper views a product page
Added to cart A shopper adds an item to their cart
Viewed collection A shopper views a collection page
Searched A shopper searches your store
Checkout started A shopper starts checkout

When a shopper enters their email at checkout, the pixel also links their earlier browsing to their profile and saves their timezone from their browser, if the profile has none yet.

Order events share these fields.

Field What it holds
total Order total
subtotal, total_tax Subtotal and tax (Placed order)
delivery, discount Shipping and discounts (Placed order)
currency Currency code, such as GBP
item_count Number of items
items Each item: title, sku, price, quantity, vendor, product_type, collections, image_url
collections, vendors Every collection and vendor on the order (Placed order)
discount_codes, tags Discount codes used and the order’s tags (Placed order)
channel storefront, subscription, pos, admin or other
tracking_number Carrier tracking (fulfilment and delivery events)
cancel_reason Why it was cancelled (Cancelled order)

Item fields work in conditions with items.*, for example items.*.title contains hoodie matches an order where any item’s title contains “hoodie”.

Ordered product carries one item’s fields at the top level (title, price, collections…), so you can split on a single product.

Each order is recorded once, even though Shopify, the pixel and your order history can all report it.
