Send Time Options
When you schedule a campaign, you pick a date and a time. Then you choose how that time works for your customers.
You’ll find these options on the last step of the campaign builder. Choose Schedule, pick your date and time, then pick a Send time.
Everyone at the same time
Section titled “Everyone at the same time”Every customer gets your campaign at the exact moment you picked. If you pick 10am in London, a customer in Sydney gets it at 9pm.
Good for: flash sales, launches and anything that starts at a set moment.
In each recipient’s time zone
Section titled “In each recipient’s time zone”Every customer gets your campaign at the time you picked, on their own clock. Pick 10am, and customers in London, New York and Sydney each get it at 10am where they live.
- Schedule at least a day ahead. Customers in time zones ahead of yours get it first, so sending can start up to 14 hours before your chosen time.
- If a customer’s time has already passed when sending starts, they get it straight away.
Good for: newsletters and offers you want everyone to see at a sensible hour.
Smart send time
Section titled “Smart send time”Every customer gets your campaign at the hour they usually open or click your emails, at some point in the 24 hours after the time you picked.
- Customers with little history (new customers, or people who rarely open your emails) get it at the time you picked.
- It gets better over time. The more you send, the more Gro learns about when each customer reads.
Good for: newsletters and regular updates where the exact hour doesn’t matter.
How Gro knows a customer’s time zone
Section titled “How Gro knows a customer’s time zone”For In each recipient’s time zone, Gro looks for each customer’s time zone in this order:
- The time zone saved on their profile.
- Their address. Gro uses their country, or their state or province in Australia, Canada and the United States.
- If neither tells us, the time zone you chose when scheduling.
Getting time zones onto profiles
Section titled “Getting time zones onto profiles”Gro detects it for you. When a customer signs up through a Gro signup form, enters their email at checkout, or is identified by the Gro SDK on your site, Gro reads the time zone from their browser and saves it. You don’t need to set anything up.
You can set it yourself. If your site already knows a customer’s time zone, for example from their account settings, your developer can pass it to the Gro SDK. Gro then uses that instead of the browser’s, and it shows up on signup forms too. See Visitor timezone.
Detected never replaces known. A time zone read from a browser only fills a profile that doesn’t have one yet. One you set yourself, or one brought over from Klaviyo, stays put.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Your campaign shows as Sending until everyone has it. With either of the last two options, that can take up to a day.
- You can change your mind. Until sending starts, you can reschedule or switch the send time option.
